The Mountain is You Summary

The Mountain is You by Brianna Wiest fills the gap between the way you’re living and the way you want to live. To do that, you have to change your mindset, you have to move from a Fixed Mindset to a Growth Mindset.

If you’re running a business in Men’s Clothing then you should list your store on Amazon and Flipkart or simply make an E-Commmers website. This is called a Growth Mindset where you see that I have to change myself and my business for good.

On the other hand, if you say, “I don’t want to list my website on Amazon or Flipkart because its too much work, what if I don’t make money online, I don’t know how to list my store, I have to spend more money, etc.”

This is called a Fixed Mindset where you don’t want to accept the change, you just want to run your business, the old way, no matter what happens.

You can apply this example anywhere you want and you will see, where and how you need to change.

Now, let’s go deep now and see some of the core lessons from the book.

Releasing Past

Look, it’s not easy to forget the past but you have to accept it and move on with your life.

It won’t be easy but you have to do it anyway, just ask yourself, “what I’m getting from thinking about my past, is it good for my health” if the answer is NO then just let it go.

Live your life in the present movement and accept the past, that’s the only way to achieve your dreams otherwise, you will be stuck in a loophole.

In the long run, your past will overpower you.

So Release whatever is bothering you, write it down on paper, go to your room, and scream as loud as you want but don’t hold on to your past.

Subconscious Mind

If you’re thirsty, you will find water without thinking about anything. You won’t ask, why you want to drink water, your mind knows that water is a must to survive.

On the other hand, you won’t exercise every day, even after knowing that, your body is unfit and it needs maintenance.

Here, your Subconscious Mind won’t interfere because doing exercise every day is not must to survive.

Now, the solution, tell yourself that, if you don’t exercise every day then your body will become unhealthy, and when you become old, your body won’t be able to do every single thing that you’re doing right now.

As I have said, it won’t be easy to adopt a new habit in one day, it may take 60 or even 90 days but you have to convince your conscious mind that, exercise is as important as drinking water, eating food, and sleeping.

Just Start

Again, you don’t ask questions when you’re trusty, you just drink water but if you have a business idea then you won’t just start, you will ask hall lot of questions and in the end, fear will overpower you.

So the solution is to see the Pros and Cons of your business idea, research the business, and then come to the conclusion.

Take my website as an example,

It’s not like, BookiesTalk.com is the only website that talks about books, there are many websites that do the same.

So what if I had thoughts like, what if no one reads anything from my website, what if I don’t make money, and what if I fail?

This is all fear, nothing else, so what I did is, I gave a valid reason to myself which is “start a website and don’t ask for anything in return”.

What I did is, cut off expectations from this website. When you don’t have expectations then you will able to do whatever you want to do.

So the lesson is, just start if you believe in your business Idea.
