Think of it as a self-help bible—not just a collection of lessons, but a guide to transforming your life.
The Magic of Thinking Big Summary
One of the core lessons from The Magic of Thinking Big is, you can’t achieve big things in life if you think small.
If you only think about doing a small job where you can earn Rs 20,000 every month then there is the chance that you won’t think about starting a business or taking risks in life.
The reason is, you don’t want to think big and that’s the big problem.
That’s what David wants to tell you and this is the core essence of the book.
So from now, never think small because you never know what will happen next minute.
That being said, let me share with you core ideas from the book that will make you think about yourself.
There is Nothing more Powerful than the Process
I’m a big MS Dhoni Fan and one thing I learned from him was “focus on the process, rest will automatically happen”
That’s the exact thing that David shared in his book. (I know, David said it first but when MS Dhoni said it, it made a huge impact on my life)
Let me give you a simple example
Let’s say you want to read a book called Productive Mindset which is about 100 pages but you’re reading the book for the first time outside of study.
Now, the obvious thing you will think is “How much time will it take to finish the book, whether this is good or not? I don’t feel like reading right now and I will for sure finish this book next Sunday”
Sunday is next week and you have 7 days, so instant of waiting for Sunday. Why not just read for 30 minutes or even 15 minutes every day and I’m sure that you will finish the book before Sunday.
The moral of the story is, never think about the end result, stay in the process, and do whatever you can every day to stay on that end result because if you miss one or two months then that end result will move, big time.
So buy the Productive Mindset book and read it right now because you can.
Lastly, the process is the magic key, so don’t lose the key while you’re near opening the door.
Believe in Yourself Because You Can
When you want to do something out of the box, the first thing you have to do is, Believe in yourself because at that time, no one will.
Here is my example,
I started my blogging journey in 2016 and I was the first one in my family to do something out of the box, everyone was doing a government job or private job.
They’re working 9 to 5 every year and I didn’t want to do that and that’s where I came to know about blogging.
For about a year, I didn’t tell anyone about my website, I was running everything by myself. I even bought cheap hosting and a domain with my pocket money.
After about a year, I told my mother about what I wanted to do, and like every single mother, she asked relatives whether blogging is good or not.
And I was surprised that everyone told my mother that let him do what he is doing.
I didn’t know what to say at that movement because it was surprising.
After I asked my mother for some money and I bought good hosting and I started working on the new website.
I worked on a new website for about 10 months and after 10 months I got a message from Amazon saying “We have deposited Rs 7050 in your bank account”
That was a very special movement for me and from that day, I never looked back.
For those who are wondering, where is your father, he died when I was 4 years old.
I’m writing and running this website because I believed in myself that I can write an article, I can run a website, and can make money out of it.
I was able to believe in myself because I didn’t want to do a 9-to-5 job and didn’t want to work for anyone.
So the end story is, you need to have some sort of motivation to believe in yourself and you need to clearly see the end goal otherwise, you will be stuck.
Now, yes, I didn’t tell you a full story because I need to keep something for my biography as well (wink, wink).
The Network will Help Your
Chris Voss, talks about networking in his Never Split the Difference book. I mean, when you read his book, you will know the power of networking.
Now, David also talked about Networking but he didn’t go deeper.
The core idea he gives you is to always be a good listener because this way, you can understand the emotion of another person and you can communicate better.
For example,
If I’m talking to you about the Make Time book and you’re using your smartphone or you just want to talk rather than listening to me then there is a chance that I will lose interest in you and I won’t bother talking to you next time.
So to become good at networking, you first have to become a good listener.
