Must-Read Self-Help Books

One piece of advice from your new friend, please don’t buy audiobooks or ebooks when you want to read any self-help books because when you listen to audiobooks, you won’t be sitting in one place, you will be doing some sort of work whereas ebooks can distract you.

So always buy a physical copy when you want to read self-help books. Now, let me suggest you some self-help books.

Atomic Habits by James Clear

Atomic Habits by James Clear Paperback

This is the GOD of all the self-help books, try to read Atomic Habits by James Clear every day and follow the steps that the author has provided in the book.

The books have changed my life, I have tried my best to apply everything that the author has written and it does work if you be true to yourself while following the instructions.

One of the core ideas from the book is, to try to improve by 1% every day. For example, if you want to add a Book reading habit then read any of your favorite books for 5 minutes every day, and after a year, see how it goes. (spoiler, you will become a book reader, I dare you to try).

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Alchemist Book

A journey of a boy who wants to follow his dream and he can do whatever it takes to archive it. Paulo Coelho has presented a beautiful and heart-touching story that tells you why everyone should follow their dreams.

This book motivated me to read more books and I will tell you the same thing, if you have just started reading books then read this book right now and I promise you one thing, you will finish this book in one go.

Go read it, if you haven’t already.

The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck by Mark Manson

The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck Summary

Mark Manson is a phenomenal writer, he uses more cuss words that hits hards, so when you read this book, don’t be so hard on yourself.

The core idea from the book is, “be yourself and don’t give F about people”. If you want to start a business and if people around are saying “don’t start a business, if it fails, you will lose all of your money”.

Now, if you believe in the business you want to build then just build it, don’t think about what people are saying, just take advice and see what to apply and what not to.

This is another solid book that will motivate you to become a better person.

The Almanack Of Naval Ravikant by Eric Jorgenson

The Almanack Of Naval Ravikant Book Summary

I come to know about Naval Ravikant after I watched his podcast on Joe Rogan Experience, one of the key takeaways from that Podcast for me was “everyone can get rich and Naval did explain how?” So let’s talk about that…

The human brain is powerful enough to do almost everything, the only problem is, the brain always looking for a comfortable life, and once it founds it, the brain stops thinking creatively.

Now, let’s assume the opposite,

“Every Human on this earth starts thinking that, I will and I can do whatever I want, I can become Doctor, I can run a business and I can also become an engineer.

If everyone thinks like that then no one will procrastinate and humans can achieve whatever they want, whether they want to make money, find a cure for Cancer, or anything else.”

That was the summarized answer of how Naval Ravikant explained. Now, if you wanted to go inside Naval’s mind then go read The Almanack Of Naval Ravikant by Eric Jorgenson, the book contains the wisdom of Naval Ravikant which he has shared on Twitter, Youtube, and all across the internet.

The book will surely make you understand human behavior to another level.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey

This book taught me, how to manage time. Stephen R. Covey has shared simple formula and if you apply the same in your life then you can manage your life the way you want.

The formula is, first go get pen and paper and write down every single task that you suppose to do today. Whether it’s writing an article, reading books, doing exercises, or going for a run.

Now prioritize all the tasks. For example,

  • important Tasks: Reading Books, going to the gym, working on projects, or writing articles.
  • Unimportant Tasks: Watching Movies, using social media, or playing games.
  • Urgent Task: Visiting someone to a Hospital, going to the gym, or working on projects.

Just like that, skip all the tasks that are not important and start working on those tasks that are important as well as Urgent at the same time.

Whatever I have written about the book here is just a small part of the book, Stephen R. Covey has talked about 7 habits that will make your life better than the day before.

The Courage To Be Disliked by Fumitake and Ichiro

The Courage To Be Disliked Book Summary

Most of the self-help books have the same writing format but here, Fumitake and Ichiro have written The Courage To Be Disliked in a question-and-answer format which makes this more appealing.

The book has lots of wisdom and it will teach you a lot about life but for it, the core lesson was “Don’t expect anything from anyone and Live the life you want to live.”

No Excuses by Brian Tracy

No Excuses by Brian Tracy Paperback

I’m a big fan of Brian Tracy, he has changed my life and I’m hoping when read his books, it will do the same for you.

We all know what “Excuses” means but here, the author has shared everything he knows about time and work management in a simple way that after reading this book, you will never say “I don’t have time to do that or this.”

Brian has shared things like, if you’re working on a task then forget about everything and only think about “how can I complete this task as soon as possible”.

He also teaches you “how you can say NO to almost everything without being rude”.

Now, if you have read tons of Self-help books then still I would highly recommend you to read No Excuses because it teaches that “whatever time you have, get the most out of it”.

Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins

This is the autobiography of David Goggins, he is known as the toughest man alive on the earth.

I won’t say much about this book because I feel, everyone on this earth should read this book at least for one time.

One of the key takeaways from the book for me was, “a self-discipline is a powerful tool and if you control yourself then there is no limit, you can archive whatever you feel like”.

This is what David Goggins did, from fat guy to toughest man alive on the earth.

Do one thing, believe in yourself and be thankful for whatever you have.

Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy

Eat That Frog Book Summary

A book curved my procrastination, I use to delay lots of tasks for the next day but when I read this book, I understood, how my mind works and why I do things, the way I do them.

This is a very small book, so if you have just started reading books then make sure you read this because you can open the book and read any page and you won’t feel the board and you sure learn new things about yourself.

Keep Going by Austin Kleon

About a year ago, I was struggling to focus on my work, the problem was, I was running my other website for five years and I getting a bit bored of doing the same things every day.

This is where I found Austin Kleon author of Keep Going, the book explores, what you can do extra to get hooked into the work you do every day.

Austin simply puts out, remember why did you start the work you do in the first place, now, when you ask this question, you will have a clear Idea and you will again, start enjoying the work.

I have just pointed out a single paragraph, the book has tons of other stuff which will make you fall in love with your work all over again.

So if you feel that, I’m waking up every day, eating breakfast, doing work, eating dinner, and going to sleep then make sure you read this book and you will find an answer.

Final Thoughts

Apart from the books I have added, there are many that I haven’t added here. That doesn’t mean, all the other self-help books are garbage, you can choose any and start reading.

I have added those books which have enough knowledge about the human brain, so if you can read these 10 books then you will able to archive whatever you want.

So read some of the mentioned books, if you haven’t already or if you have any questions or chat with me then feel free to drop a comment and I will see you there.
