Rework by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson
Rework by Jason Fried and David tells you how working hard is not necessary to succeed in business. These days everyone can start a business even with less money, the only thing needed is management and consistency.
We’re living in a time where everyone has access to everything, and everyone can learn anything free. The missing thing is, the courage to start something, and the author of this book will give you the courage to start something.

Rework Summary
I read this book about six months ago (2020) and I still feel, I should have read this when I was 15 years old. The Rework has everything that a 15 or 18-year-old adult is looking for.
If you’re under 20, make sure to read this book and apply its lessons. The knowledge you gain will benefit you in any field you choose to pursue.
Multitasking Will Eat You Alive
Yes, you read that correctly. Multitasking kills your focus, and as a result, you won’t be able to give any task your full energy or attention.”
Let’s say,
- You want to make a YouTube channel.
- You want to make a website
- You want to do the job
- You want to start a new business
- You also want to start a podcast.
I won’t say anything, just ask yourself, will you be able to do even a single task with full energy?
Yes, if you have money, you can hire the best people in the world to do your work but most people don’t have that kind of money in the beginning.
If you’re like most people, Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
It applies in business and even in life too.
If you have a business idea, focus on that, but remember, you can’t divide your time between too many things. If you’re also working a job, that’s perfectly fine—just dedicate time to your business after work. You don’t have to quit your job to get started.
Do one thing perfectly and be consistent.
Focus On What You Have
Imagine you have a great smartphone, but when a new model is released, you find yourself thinking, ‘I wish I had that one.’ It’s easy to get caught up in the desire for the latest and greatest, even when what you already have is more than enough.
So if you’re running a business and if another business has a big office then don’t be like, my business also needs this kind of office otherwise, how will I able to compete with them?
If you have a small office, don’t complain about it. Focus on what you can do to improve your business. The moral of the story is to make the most of what you have right now and find ways to get the best results
Run As Fast As You Can
Whatever mistakes you make, learn from them. Don’t just stop there and say, how will I be able to recover from this?
“If you’re competing with other businesses, don’t just follow their lead—do something different. And if you do decide to copy, make sure you do it better.
If you need help, hire staff, but only when you feel you’re unable to handle everything on your own. Don’t hire just for the sake of hiring.
Invest as much as you can in your business and aim to grow as quickly as possible. Remember, every investment you make will pay off in the long run. Don’t view investment as just spending.
Start Working On That Idea
Everyone has a dream and hopes it will come true, but without taking action and working toward that dream, nothing will ever change.
So if you have a business idea and if you truly believe in it then don’t waste a second.
Try to reach an investor and tell them about your idea and if no one wants to invest in your business then do it yourself.
If you’re doing a job, there’s no need to quit. You can use the hours after work to focus on your side project or business.
You just need to believe in your idea and the rest will come true. One more thing, save as much money as you can, so when the right time comes, you can invest that saving into your business.
Yes, it’s a risk, but if you truly believe in your idea, the risk doesn’t matter.
Rework Review
Rework is one of those books that will teach you how to start a business from bottom to top even with less money. You just need to believe in your idea and the rest will come true.
There are countless valuable lessons in this book that will help you grow as both a person and an investor. I have only shared a few.
It’s the best management book I have ever read. So go grab a copy and manage your life as well as your business.
