The Miracle Morning Summary

The book doesn’t force you to wake up early but offers a helpful technique if you choose to. It also provides routines to help you improve yourself. Yes, this is a self-help book but it more focuses on how to make mornings great.

For example, you may promise to exercise every day at 5 PM, but when the time comes, you say, I’ll start tomorrow. That “tomorrow” keeps getting postponed.

The same goes for your morning routine. Don’t skip good habits just to feel comfortable now. Exercising might not make you happy immediately, but months later, you’ll thank yourself for sticking to it.

Look, I believe everyone should do some sort of physical activity. It’s not that hard—just get up and move your body. Yes, it might not feel great at first, but eventually, you’ll experience the power of doing 30 minutes of exercise.

Sleep Quality

You don’t have to sleep for 8 hours every day—focus on quality, not quantity.

For example, if you drink coffee at 9 PM and go to sleep at 10 PM, you might sleep, but when you wake up at 8 AM, you’ll feel tired because of that one cup of coffee.

The solution is:

  • Don’t use a smartphone 1 hour before bedtime.
  • Don’t consume caffeine 6 hours before bedtime.
  • Don’t watch movies or news 1 hour before bedtime.

This way, your mind will relax, helping you sleep early and get a good amount of rest.

We have data suggesting 8 hours of sleep is ideal for most people, but that doesn’t mean you have to sleep for 8 hours. If 7 hours make you feel great, then go with 7 hours. Everyone’s body is different, and we all experience things in our own way.

Do what’s best for you.

How to Wake Up Early

I can only share what I’ve learned from this book, but in the end, it’s up to you whether you want to wake up early or not.

For example, if you want to wake up at 5 AM every day:

  • Set an alarm and place your smartphone 1 foot away from your bed, or better yet, buy an alarm clock.
  • Don’t hit the snooze button.
  • Stand up immediately after the alarm rings.
  • Brush your teeth and wash your face.
  • Start your day by reading, meditating, or exercising.

You can also start working if you enjoy your work (but if it stresses you out, maybe don’t).

Ask yourself: “Why do I want to wake up early?” If you have a strong reason, your mind will help make it happen.

For example, I want to wake up early because I’m working on a new business idea, and I don’t get enough time because I also have a 9 to 5 job.

Find your own reason for waking up early. If it’s a strong, valid reason, your mind will follow through. But if you want to wake up early just because you read somewhere that successful people wake up early, you probably won’t be able to stick to the routine for long.

Reading

Reading is great if you love it, but if you don’t, try reading what you enjoy most, whether it’s comics, crime dramas, novels, or self-help books. Don’t force yourself to read something you don’t like, or you’ll likely drop the habit.

What I’m saying is, it’s better to start your day with a book than by reading Twitter/X feeds.

Also, avoid reading on tablets or smartphones—Kindle is fine. Get a physical copy of the book.

As the author says “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body and prayer is to the soul. We become the books we read.”

The Miracle Morning Review

The Miracle Morning is a must-read for anyone who wants to wake up early. The book offers all the strategies to help you wake up early, and if you follow the advice, you’ll be able to do it.

Now,

“Ask yourself, why do you want to wake up early?”

If you have the right answer, you don’t need this book. But if you don’t, give it a try—you might discover something new.
